Topic: Ensuring and Protecting Human Rights
We will be focusing on the rights that our loved ones deserve and to which they are entitled as we concurrently learn to listen to and respect what they desire for themselves. As this is a topic that elicits a lot of questions from parents/guardians, we hope this will help you to understand how staff are trained and how decisions are made when situations may be ambiguous.
To quote from Human Rights Resources for Families
(a 2017 DDS publication), “DDS provides specialized services to give individuals with intellectual disabilities supports that they need and opportunities to live the way they choose.“

Join us as we discuss and are informed about available resources to help empower our loved ones to lead a life of dignity, safety, and opportunity.
